Shipping & Product FAQ's

To have an item(s) shipped add the item(s) to your cart, go to checkout and under "Delivery Method" select "Shipping". You will then enter your address and be prompted to select a courier. Live pets, fresh or frozen foods, and other select products may not be eligible for shipping. Shipping costs are based on the weight of the products ordered.
Shipping & Processing
Where do you ship product?
We ship dry goods to both Canada and the United States. Shipping costs will apply and are calculated at checkout. We do not add extra fees to our shipping and the rates are purely cost recovery. You pay what we pay.
We currently do not ship outside of Canada or the United States (lower 48 states only).
How long will it take to get my order?
Most shipping to Ontario or Quebec takes 2 - 3 business days once the order has been processed and packed.
Shipping to Western Canada might take anywhere from 3 - 7 business days from the date it leaves Exotic Wings depending on the destination. The Maritimes Provinces typically have 3 - 5 business day delivery times from the date it leaves Exotic Wings.
Remote locations in any province or territory may take longer than previously stated to receive their order.

Shipping to the United States can take up to two weeks but is typically within the 5 - 10 days.
**It is always best to check with your preferred courier directly to be advised if they are experiencing any shipping delays. Thank you for your understanding.**
What shipping companies do you use?
We use Canada Post, Canpar, GLS, and UPS Courier Services. You will be able to see which options are available to you, the cost, and time frame at check-out. Please note that estimated delivery times are business days, and do not expect to receive your order on a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday.
Do you ship birds in Canada?
Yes we can ship birds seasonally May 15 - October 30. Weather that day will be factored in as we will not ship birds if the temperature exceeds 25C at any point during travel. Shipping costs start at $350 via WestJet. Shipping costs are subject to change, and all shipping is at the discretion of Exotic Wings and Pet Things Inc.

How long does it take for my order to be processed?
Orders placed for in-stock product will almost always be picked and processed that same day. Orders with product which is not in-stock are processed as soon as we receive the missing items. The majority of orders with in stock items ship later the same day or early the next business day.
I ordered plants, what next?
All plant orders will be shipped no later than Tuesday. For example, if you order on a Wednesday it will ship the following Monday. This is to allow ample time for delivery and not have your plants sitting over the weekend in the delivery depot or van. Plants will be packed to support their specific needs, and more details can be found on each plant's product page.
**We do not ship plants outside of Canada.**
Where is my order fulfilled from?
All orders are picked and packed at the store. We provide the choice of a handful of couriers to ship your product but do not fulfill orders through third-party sites (e.g. Amazon).
What will my package look like?
The extreme majority of shipments that leave the store will be packed in a box. Whenever possible we try and reuse boxes, so we cannot guarantee what your box may exactly look like. This is our contribution to reducing waste and keeping stuff out of landfills. Boxes we use are donated by friends and family, orders received at the store, etc. When necessary we will use brand new ULine boxes.
In short, you may receive your products in an Amazon box, a Lays Chip box, a brand new box, etc. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding of our efforts to reduce unnecessary waste.
How will my package arrive?
We ship the extreme majority of our customer's orders in suitable cardboard boxes. In an effort to do our part to reduce waste, we often ship in a reused box. These boxes are donated by customers, family members, etc. and therefore may have branding from their previous sender if it cannot be removed efficiently. Prior to packing, the box is looked over to ensure it is fit for sending.
On occasion an order may be suitable for sending in an envelope. We will contact you to ensure you are okay with this decision prior to shipping this way.
Ordering Products
What if I have a question about a product?

What does "Special Order" mean?
Products that say "Special Order" are products that we list for sale but do not keep in store. We do this on consumable items to ensure they are as fresh as possible. Other products like certain toys are listed as "Special Order" because we have customers who request them however the sales volume is not large enough to stock them.
Special Order items vary in time to receive. Some products will arrive sooner than others, expected time frame is usually stated as an expected lead time.
What happens if a product I've ordered is out of stock?
If a product you have ordered is out of stock you will be sent an email informing you as such. You will be informed of the current wait time on the product. When possible we may suggest in-stock substitutes, or we can refund you for the missing product.
Can I return a product?
If you have received a product that you are not satisfied with, please contact us within 48 hours of receiving your order. If you wait to contact us after this period, any returns or refunds are entirely at the discretion of Exotic Wings and Pet Things Inc.
Any perishable products that have been opened are not eligible for returns or exchanges.
Do you have sales or discounts often?
Yes we do! We have monthly specials and the products on sale change each month. Additionally, we have a sales section for products that have damaged packaging or are beginning to approach their expiry date, Order today as these deals don't last forever!
Do you have a rewards program?
