How To Buy A Bird During Social Isolation
The process of purchasing a bird has changed to ensure the safety of our employees and our valued customers. Although we cannot allow you to come inside our store, you can still stay connected and purchase birds and supplies. Here are answers to some frequently asked questions:
How can I see what's available?
We are in the process of getting our birds online so that you can see each baby that is available. All you have to do is click this link and it will bring you to our live page!
How can I bond with the bird if I am not allowed to come inside?
We understand how difficult it is to be unable to visit your bird, but don’t worry! All of our birds are being socialized and will be just as friendly as before. If you want to see your baby bird during this time of social isolation, we would be happy to send you pictures and updates, all you need to do is email us and request an update!
What is the process of purchasing a bird?
If you are interested in purchasing a bird but aren’t sure what you need to do, we would be happy to assist you. We are now posting images of our available birds on the live bird pages so that you can see them and pick one out! For cage birds like Finches, Canaries and other non-hand tamed birds, bringing them to the front window is temporarily suspended along with our curbside assistance.
If you decide to purchase a baby that is not yet ready to go home, we ask for a 50% deposit or you can pay in full. If payment is not received, we will not keep the bird on hold. Many people are looking to add a feathered friend to their life so payment is needed in order for the bird to be reserved.
Once your bird is ready to go home, we still insist on going through our care sheet before you leave. We are now doing our care sheets over the phone only
outside so that we can practice safe social distancing, and doing this by appointment only. If you are unsure how to book an appointment, here's what you need to do:

Step 2. Click on "Book Bird Grooming" or "Book New Bird Pickup"
Step 3. Fill in the mandatory information and complete checkout process. We do not charge you until the grooming is complete.
What if I need supplies for my new bird?
Whether you are purchasing your first bird, or adding another member to your flock, you are going to need supplies. Our website has everything you need for your pet and we even have the option of Curbside Pickup! When checking out, pick Curbside as your shipping method and we will send you an email when your order is ready.

What's The Difference Between A Handfed Bird And A Cage Bird?
When picking out a bird, it is important to know what kind of bird you’re looking for. If you want a bird that you can interact with, take out of the cage and cuddle with, you are looking for a handfed bird. Handfed birds are pulled from the nest at 3 weeks old and placed in our nursery where we feed them until they are ready to go in a cage to learn to eat on their own. The reason we hand feed our birds is so that they bond with humans and get used to physical interactions.
Cage birds are different from handfed birds. Cage birds are not pulled from the nest and are not handled and socialized as babies. Because of this, they are not used to physical interactions with humans and are therefore fearful or aggressive towards people. These birds cannot be handled and do not want to leave their cage. If you would like to add a bird to your house, but are not interested in socializing and keeping it mentally stimulated, a cage bird may be the best option. These birds are lovely to look at and admire and, depending on the type of bird, add a bit of song to your day.

What does ‘Weaned’ mean?
Before we let your bird go home, we make sure that they've been eating seed and/or pellet on their own for a full week. It is very important to make sure that they are eating solid food to ensure that they continue eating their proper diet after you take them home.
We will not allow your bird to go home until we are 100% sure that they have weaned (transitioned) from the hand feeding formula to a seed or pellet diet. We will not make exceptions.
