Grooming Services Offered
- Nail Trimming - We typically recommend a bird's nails be trimmed 3-4 times a year or once a season. Some birds my require more.
- Beak Reshaping - Including correcting malformed beaks and "cleaning up" unattractive layers on larger birds.
- Flight Feather Trimming - Read this blog post to learn more about this topic.
Our goal is to groom each bird as quickly as possible to minimize stress. When grooming a bird's beak or nails we typically will use a specialized dremel tool to quickly "file" down the nails or beak to an appropriate length or size.
Cold Weather Advisory
During the colder months we ask that you have a blanket, towel, or some other form of cover to prevent your bird(s) from catching a chill. If you are travelling a long distance with your bird in the cold weather do put water which can be easily spilled (and possibly get the bird(s) wet) inside the carrier. Instead, offer cucumber, apple or melon.
- Covering - Use a blanket, towel, or other cover to prevent your bird from catching a chill. You should also pre-heat your vehicle before transporting the bird(s).
- Hydration - For long-distance travel in cold weather, avoid placing water in the carrier. Instead, provide cucumber, apple, or melon to keep your bird hydrated without the risk of spills. A wet bird is significantly more likely to catch a chill or get sick in the cold weather
